Backing up Data

If you have a problem with your computer and it needs to be repaired by a professional then it is highly advisable that you make a back up of all your important data. It's probably best to make a back up of important data before any goes wrong, but not everybody will think of making a copy until a problem is staring them in the face!

Thankfully there are plenty of different ways that you can back up your data. CD duplication at home is now possible thanks to the prevalence of CD writers in modern PCs. So, you can easily burn any data on to a disc. However, there are disadvantages to CD duplication, especially if you're using cheap discs. They degrade fairly quickly and you could loose data.

Investing an external hard drive is another way that you can store data. Simply copy any files you want a back up of onto an external hard drive, or even a USB memory stick. This is a great way to make a safe, secure back up.

If its documents that you need to backup, then it goes without saying that the best thing to do is make a hard copy of them! Print them out and store them securely, perhaps with a CD or DVD with the relevant files burned onto it! If you really want to be secure then try all these methods that way should anything happen to your computer you'll always have a copy of any important data!
